WildWooHoo, a creative innovation studio in Sydney

complex ideas into creative experiences

WildWooHoo is a creative innovation studio in Sydney.

We turn complex ideas into things people can see, hear and take part in.

From a study, a report or a strategy, to music, films and books, and keynotes, workshops and performances for conferences, workplaces, schools and events. Music is our first format, and live events open with everyone moving together.

Turn friction into belonging, and expertise into art that connects

Diverse teams where difference creates more friction than belonging. Research and expertise that never reach the people they are for. Dr WELI's two signature programs turn both into something people take part in: How To Lead a Diverse Team Into Belonging, and How To Turn Your Knowledge Into Art That Connects. Both run on Membrane Thinking, his method built from behavioural-ecology research, and are booked as keynotes, workshops and cohorts for organisations, universities and the public sector.

Partnerships

WildWooHoo × WELI

WildWooHoo x WELI (the studio's work, built from founder Dr WELI's own kangaroo research). Our main partnership right now: founder-led behavioural ecology, where Dr WELI's research on animal behaviour and the natural world becomes music, books and school programmes.

Workshops, keynotes and live engagement run through the partnership. See Engagement and Events.

Work

Kangaroo Time is WELI's music video, made before the studio. It is a finished project that shows the method in action, and its sci pop method grew from it. It shows the method run all the way through to a finished song, and music is the studio's first format. It turns PhD research on the personality and social behaviour of wild eastern grey kangaroos into a song and film. The dance cast drew its styles from multicultural Canberra, so the work carries belonging and difference as it carries the science.

The framework behind the studio's sci pop music is set out in its founding paper, Sci pop: science as aesthetic, theme and method in contemporary popular music (open access, Zenodo, CC BY 4.0).

It is the AAAS Dance Your PhD Global Winner 2024.

Founder
